On April 1 2010 Kim Terwilliger, former SNY Ski and Toboggan Advisor became the Region Director for the SNY Region.  Since 2004 Meg Smith has provided dedicated service to the SNY Region.  The Region thanks her for her time and effort in overseeing the Region.

At the SNY Region meeting on March 25 2010, numerous advisors and patrollers were recognized for their years of dedicated service.  Please see “Awards” section for further information on patrollers and their respective awards.

At the Eastern Division Spring Officers Meeting in April it was shared that our NSP brand has been marginalized.  We need to re-emphasize that we are members of the National Ski Patrol.  We are encouraged to wear our brand proudly.  An informal poll of delegates at the meeting overwhelmingly identified the traditional gold cross with blue National Ski Patrol” as the most recognizable and preferable logo of members.

Any suggestions or ideas for ways to raise awareness and acceptance of NSP would be appreciated.  The “brand awareness” is under discussion at the National Board level.

Also at the ED Spring Officers meeting, the ED BOD approved a By-Laws change with respect to Region Director Election procedures.  For further information, please see “Election News”

A goal for our Region is to ensure that patrollers are receiving opportunities and support for program delivery.  In order to accomplish that, teamwork, trust and communication need to be established and maintained.  Building teamwork and trust takes time and commitment. Patrol Directors, Advisors and Patrollers are asked to support one another.  We have an opportunity to build upon our successes and bring about positive change for our Region.  As a team, we can accomplish great things.

As a final note, I would like to thank the patrollers of the SNY Region for giving me the opportunity to support and represent you.  I look forward to working with you.

                                                                         -Kim
