I've been all over these hills on dirt bikes and 4wd's. The last time I was
up to Panamint City, you could just drive right in. A LOT of dirt came out
of that canyon back in August of '84 (2 weeks after we were there!). There
is a lot of really neat stuff all over this desert - it just gets too hot
for most of us (morning only 4wd trips - especially for Terri Ann). We still
hope to have a neat trip planned in Sept - Oct time frame!

That's the SAME Dormobile, keeping on its tight schedule of strategic
 appearances.

Sounds like you need more than a jack. How about a guard dog or a S&W?

Subject: Dormobile with a winch!

Well I just spend a while chatting with the owner of the Dormobile in
Berkeley. Name is Milton Neux (sp?). His Dormobile has been taken on
some pretty hardcore routes (Yellowstone area; back"road" Utah,
etc.)-boulders, 2ft deep mud - yup there's a winch on the front!

He moved to Berkeley from Utah about 1.5 years ago. He's not currently
a member of LROA, but used to be. I'm going to be dropping off the
membership info. for him since he's keen to join again. Sounds like
he's into very serious use of the vehicle. [Oh, oh, is this a challenge
for all you other Dormobilers :) ?] [Rubicon! Rubicon! .. :)] He can't
make the Paradise Rallye since he's got prior plans but sounds like he'd
be interested in our periodic get togethers. Oh, yeah, he's not on the
net.

His dormobile is a 68 (?) with the original 6 cylinder.

Cheers,

Jeremy

Subject: Land Rover on Propane?

Does anyone know of any LRs converted to propane? I am thinking about this as I
rebuild my truck. Where would you store the tank(s). 73

I used to know a fellow who had a right-hand drive 109 station wagon with a
Ford V-8, transmission, and transfer case. When he got it it ran on
propane. The tank was inside the vehicle, in place of the back seat. I
don't think it was even strapped down. He eventually converted it back to
petrol.
